FUR is CAFE awardee
The Football Union of Russia has become the prizewinner of the CAFÉ award (Centre for access to Football in Europe). The prize was received at an awarding ceremony during an international CAFÉ conference in Bilbao (Spain) for creating condition for access and involving disabled people in football.
FUR is awarded in the “Initiative of the National Association” nomination. In such a way a contribution in consecutive improvement of football access for disabled people and their involvement into football community is noted, including a list of events of CAFÉ Week of Actions in which a record-breaking number of Russian clubs took part with the help of the FUR. The action got wide media support and promoted better understanding of the problem in the country.
It was also noted that new employees responsible for cooperation with disabled fans, appeared in RFPL and FNL clubs’ staff and held seminars were held for such specialists by FUR. Besides, after the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, which was acknowledged the best one for disabled fans, a new football infrastructure was created in the country, meeting all modern needs of such category of fans. Stated standards can help in future to improve access at the stadiums, which weren’t used during the World Cup.

-One of our priority tasks is football available to all categories of citizens. During preparation process and the World Cup itself we managed to reach notable progress both in creating facilities and increasing the level of culture in cooperation with disabled fans. Now it is important to spread the acquired experience throughout the country.
